Petley Wood Equestrian Centre is a friendly, family-run,multi discipline Equestrian Centre which is run by Julie Padmore and her daughter Danielle, located in the heart of the East Sussex countryside, yet only minutes away from the historic town of Battle. Petley Wood itself is an ancient Woodland in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with clear historic ties to the Bronze Age and the Romans. Close to the site of the battle of Hastings, Petley Wood, with its 200 acres at our disposal, offers an unrivalled location.
Petley Wood offers two types of livery DIY and part livery excellent facilities available for liveries to enjoy, with a large indoor school, a large outdoor school and a smaller outdoor Liveries have plenty of opportunities to train and school their horse in any discipline. With competitions up to the highest level on your door step and weekly clinics with great trainers such as Nick Turner, Judi Piper Dadswell , Sam Penn, Carol Green, Emma Hinkley and Maria Green and all these fantastic facilities at your disposal what more could you ask for? Well 200 acres of beautiful unique private woodland here at Petley Wood and easy access to Battle Great Woods. We suit all types of riders from your competition riders to your happy hackers. The yard has a great friendly, relaxed professional feel with all your needs and your horses taken care of.
Alongside the livery business is the thriving competition centre which runs numerous competitions throughout the year covering all disciplines for all level of competitors. Regular British Show Jumping shows run twice a month, mainly on Tuesdays or over the weekend and include a British Novice 2nd round in July 2016. We endeavour to employ the top course builders in the country for these shows with Keith Bristow officiating wherever possible. Unaffiliated Dressage & Show Jumping is also run on a regular basis with new championships on offer for 2016 with fantastic prizes up for grabs for the lucky winners. All our unaffiliated shows are run in a highly professional manor using BD listed judges and BS panel course builders and designed for all levels.
New for 2016 is Arena Eventing, Petley have been very fortunate in being granted two British Eventing qualifiers for this prestigious series with the finals at Blenheim International Horse Trials.
The venue is also available for hire, either on an individual basis or by groups and is currently being used for training and competitions by Rother Valley RC, East Sussex PC, Romney Mash PC, alongside regular dog agility training and shows.
Ian Bareham joined the Petley team in 2015 and is there new events coordinator for all the shows.
